Zivolife contains a significant concentration of dietary fiber including beta-glucans, a class of soluble fiber that human digestive enzymes cannot break down. They pass through the small intestine intact and arrive in the colon where specific beneficial bacteria, including Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains, ferment them.
The primary byproduct of that fermentation is butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that serves as the principal energy source for colonocytes, the cells lining the gut wall. Butyrate supports tight junction integrity, the physical mechanism that keeps the gut barrier selective and intact. When tight junctions function properly, nutrients pass through efficiently and larger undigested particles and pathogens do not.
Zivolife's beta-glucan concentration is more than three times higher than that of spirulina, a difference that reflects the unique cell wall architecture of the Charophyte lineage this organism belongs to. The most potent compound identified was pheophorbide a, a chlorophyll-derived compound that inhibits inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) at an IC50 of 0.24µM, and also demonstrated inhibition of NF-kB. Both iNOS and NF-kB are central drivers of the inflammatory signaling that compromises gut barrier integrity when chronically elevated. The study identified three additional compound classes contributing to anti-inflammatory activity: hydroxylated fatty acids, carotenoids, and glycoglycerolipids.
Taken together, the fiber fraction, polyphenol content, and anti-inflammatory compounds in Zivolife act on the gut environment through complementary mechanisms rather than a single pathway. This is a characteristic of whole food nutrition that isolated extracts or single-compound supplements cannot replicate.
Complete protein and gut tissue support
Zivolife contains approximately 52g of complete protein per 100g, including all nine essential amino acids at greater than 90% bioavailability. The gut lining undergoes continuous cellular renewal.
